“Following the footsteps of the Jewish Authors” tour is tracing the world of Jewish lifestyle and literature in Eastern Europe. This unique experience lasts 8 days and we’ll visit various places of tremendous significance in Jewish history and literature. During this journey, the material and imaginary world of the written world join together – SY Agnon described Buchach in great detail in his works, so we can tour the city while using his book as a historical guide.
This authentic experience is available to us because the Shtetlim (Jewish towns) had hardly changed within the past century. Besides the native city of the Nobel Prize laureate SY Agnon, we’ll also re-visit the legacy of other notable authors: Sholem Aleichem, Ze’ev Jabotinsky, Aharon Appelfeld and Haim Nachman Bialik.
Odesa, Uman’, Bershad’, Chernivtsi (and Sadhorawit), Vizhnitz, Kosiv, Kuty, Vinnytsia, Sharhorod, Kam’yanets’-Podil’s’kyi, Nemyriv, the extermination camp and a mass grave in the Pechora, Ivano-Frankivsk, Buchach, Medzhybizh, Berdychiv, and Kyiv.
